more in lifting and shifting object like tables, chairs, dance floor and stage any requirments of the function. and no regular time schedule and anytime they can change your duty. *For my co-workers there very teamplayer and very good when it come's to work and they are also friendly aswell. *I've learned different types of service, table set-up and I also become more confident in my commuinication skill. we effectively tends to those needs, with duties similar to a restaurant waiter but working in more team-focusdway. this means that there are more guest to be effeciently and pleasantly serve during the the course of an event. We are most often held at hotels, resort, or private clubs for large event and parties. *We are responsible for preparing tables and banquet area before guest arrive, effectively serving a number different dishesand courses to guest during a meal, and clearing the tables and banquet area after the depart. If you're older, I highly recommend you find a place in Port Carling or Gravenhurst. I lived in staff housing with other young adults (early 20s). You can't blame them though, all three restaurants operated from the same kitchen as banquets! Food often took at least 30 minutes - 1 hour to come out at a mediocre quality at best. The kitchen staff were so unequipped, as a server you gained strong problem solving skills, as guests were ALWAYS complaining. The average guest who go to the JW Marriott are high-end individuals/families who expect luxury service, and they will pay you accordingly. You could be the best at your job, but to them, you're just a number! The only reason to bust your butt working long hours for them, is seeing your tip envelopes at the end of your shift. Management only focused on negatives, and never recognized you for your accomplishments. Some people would skip work without calling in sick on multiple occasions and not face any consequences, but others would do the same once and be threatened of termination. It was rare that you would get your time-off requests approved. However, this was quickly offset by the fact that the management was manipulative, took advantage of you every chance they could, and tons of favouritism. I made friends that I'll take with me for the rest of my life, and on my days off we'd go out on the lake to their cottages and enjoy Muskoka. Worked there for 5 months over the summer and made a ton of money, keep in mind in August I worked over 100 hours overtime, sometimes 10-14 hours a day.
